Elmwood SectionalSaturday, October 27 2018
The Prairie Central girls ended their post-season run today at the Elmwood Sectional. The varsity squad placed 13th overall out of the 20-team meet. Leading the way for the Hawks was Jadyn Stephens in 62nd. Her time of 20:43 was only two seconds off a career PR. Following close behind was Becca Conlisk in 84th(21:35) and Tanya Fehr in 98th(22:10). Rounding out the scoring for the Hawks was Lexi Zimmerman in a time of 23:13 and Anna Hale in 25:21. Running in the 6th spot for the Hawks, and also ending her cross country career, was Vivian Walter in 25:57. Also, finishing for the lady Hawks was Heidi Meister in 27:19.
This girls team has a lot to be proud of. They did not back down from the competition today. They ran in the toughest sectional and really put themselves out there on the first mile. I am very proud of the effort they made and the runners they have become.
The top five teams that will advance on to the state meet next weekend are #2 Eureka, #5 Pleasant Plains, #10 Olympia, #17 El Paso-Gridley, and #8 Williamsville. There were five other ranked schools that did not make it out of the sectional.
